Sorry, this isn't about Piper. Shes fine though...still the same, chewing everything and running around like a 7 month old crazed puppy. This post is about my crazed TWILIGHT obsessed daughter. Tomorrow 11/21/08 is a big day in her world. Its the day Twilight the movie comes out. Twilight is based on the book of the same name written by Stephanie Meyers about a girl who falls in love with a Vampire. Shes not the only one excited though, i've read the books too and they're AWESOME! Its the usual good girl falls in love with the bad boy...who just happens to suck blood. Today she made the pic below to enter a contest. I took the pic a while ago but its one of my favorites. The yellow eyes represent vampire in the books.

Piper has a new home, its a box in the kitchen. She'll usually curl up in it while we're cooking dinner or while we're eating. The only problem? It previously was inhabited by Sneakers, boxes are HIS thing. I expect a turf war any day now!

Well, I dropped my baby off for her first day at Doggy Day Care. Since i'm gone 2 days a week at school all day. I don't want to leave her cooped up in her cage all day. So today I dropped her off at a place called Dog Moms for a trial run to see how she does. It was like dropping off the girls for their first day of school! You wonder if she'll play nice with the other kids, or get into trouble ;) I'll report back and let you know how she did!

Yes i'm alive and well, and so is Piper :) Lots of things have been going on in our household. Piper has started Obedience training! Shes doing really well. Currently we're working on down which is going good. Her favorite treat is CHEEEZE! She'll do anything for it. The only problem we've encountered so far is that she wants to play with all the other dogs at training, she thinks its a big ol party :)

I've decided to go back to school. As of this past Tuesday i'm a sophmore at Jamestown Community College. Its been kind of wierd hanging out there again, getting used to walking the campus with a bunch of youngins, but so far I like it. I just finished my first 2 assignments of homework (and I survived!).

I'll try to get some pics up this weekend. We have a few picnics we're attending so i'm sure there will be a few Kodak moments popping up! Have a great holiday weekend!

I've always heard that puppy's chew a lot, but SHEESH she chews on everything and anything. The other day when I THOUGHT she was asleep at my feet, she was actually chewing on my laptop cord....BAD BAD PUPPY! All of a sudden I hear a YIPE and lots of barking...yup she got shocked. Did she learn? NOPE, she bit it again yesterday. Its now reinforced with electrical tape and I may need to buy something called Bitter Bite according to the pet store. The dog has tons of chewies and toys and STILL a MAC chord is her buddy. We also have to make sure her collar is tight otherwise its a target too...

Chewing is seriously tiring work!

Ok so those words don't USUALLY come out of my mouth but i'm sitting here with a puppy on my lap and its absolutely QUIET! No kids are awake and its just me and a sleepy puppy. How could it get any better (ok I could've remembered to make tea but lets not dwell on that!)

Things have finally settled down in the Graham household. I officially have nothing to do this week, no soccer, no drama camp, NADA. So the task is to play with Pipey and FIND MY HOUSE. I'm sure its around here somewhere under the clutter and cobwebs. There is 3 weeks left until school starts (Can I get a HALLELUJAH?!??!) and it'll take that long to clean this place up.

Pipey got a new toy while I was busy. Her name is Elly and its her favorite. We discovered that she really likes stuffed animals, especially Makennas Webkinz. So when I was at Walmart I found this big fuzzy elephant that squeaks. She was immediately filled with glee and started to take her everywhere.

Sorry for no blog updates. My 2 legged kids are busy with their summer drama program and being the good mom that I am, I help out a lot so i've been at the Theatre a lot.

Piper is doing well with her eye drops, she sits really still and lets us put them in. When the accident first happened the side of her eye where she got hit was all cloudy and looked horrible, she favored it and itched it. Now she doesn't even know it exsists and there is only one small spot that has the white covering her eye. She goes back on Saturday for a re-check and another dreaded shot! She hates those and whines.

Late yesterday morning one of the cats decided she really didn't want to be bothered and gave Pipey her first big boo boo. She got swiped pretty good in her right eye by our middle cat Annabelle. It swelled up, started weeping and oozing a bit. We had her at the vets first thing this morning and found out Anna scratched her on the corner of her cornea :( So Pipey has to have drops in her eye 3 times a day (which is a FUN treat) for the next week and be checked next Saturday morning. I feel so bad, i've been calling her winky. It looks much better today than it did yesterday though. Here's a pic to tide you over for the weekend!

Yeah I know, i'm gonna hear about it but we're goin on vacation. Starting tomorrow the blog will be silent for a week, unless of course our campsite has wi-fi!! LOL We're heading to the 1000 Islands in Upstate NY for the week. Its Pipers first camping trip so it should be interesting.

Piper had another vet visit today for a booster shot, in just 1 week we shot up over 5lbs!! Shes not 5.4... the little piggy. She had quite the good time in the waiting room playing with an elderly Boston Terrier and a Jack Russel, shes currenly passed out downstairs.

See the pink pillow below? Piper has claimed it as hers. It was on the couch (which she isn't big enough to jump up on yet) but she grabbed the tag on the side and pulled it off the couch onto the floor to sleep on. She loves it, maybe because its perfect for her size...but shes been sleeping on it for the past day or so in the middle of the floor...

I submitted a few pics of our girl to The Daily Puppy for their consideration. Its a site that features 1 puppy a day in all their cuteness. And you KNOW Piper qualifies. Unfortunately I sent them pictures with people in them and that is a no no, so I was out in the backyard today (MAN IS IT HOT!) trying to get a few good shots of her to submit. Last Thursday we took a trip up to Buffalo to visit Piper's Godmommy Lizzie. Piper got to meet a bunch of new friends. She was very interested in the pool that Lizzie had. She got lots of cuddles and hugs and was pretty tired out as you will see in the following pics.

Piper had her first Vet appt today since she's been with us. Shes now up to date with her rabies vaccine and I believe distemper. She is quite the yiper when it comes to getting her shots. Poor Makenna plugged her ears :( Piper carried on for a good 30 seconds of yipes. The vets all loved her. She continues to be the Belle of the Ball wherever she goes. Shes been pretty tuckered out from her ordeal today, sleeping alot and her right shoulder is tender from her shot...my poor baby :(

I failed to mention during our 4th of July weekend that Piper got to see her first Fireworks...she was NOT impressed. She spent the entire time shaking and cowering in the nape of my neck, which by the way is her favorite place to cuddle.

Ooooh where to start! We've had a busy 4th of July weekend. Lots of stuff to do, places to go things to see. I don't know where to start... so i'll just jump right in!

We've been a few places this weekend. Gramma & Grampa Hoglunds, The Agnoli's. Piper has gone everywhere with us. She travels in style, usually on someones lap and then makes herself right at home.The above image is Piper in Makennas chair. Fortunately for Piper the chair is getting too small for Kenna. Shes it and fell asleep in it a few times yesterday.

Piper has a buddy. Shes a beagle mix that lives next door named Snickers.

Everytime they're out together, Snickers will sit and whine until I bring Piper over to play. They roll around, bounce and have a jolly ol' time.Look i'm VICIOUS!!!

I love my cup the most. Ok so you know she has toys right? Just about everytime we go somewhere, Piper gets a new toy. She has chewies, a lamby, an ellie, some balls and a few bones here and there
Recently she found her most favorite toy of all though, is it store bought? OF COURSE NOT! Its a cup, it used to have Mini-Oreos or Teddy Grahams in it. For some reason Kenna kept it and now its Pipers. Actually there was 2, one has since met its maker. Yeah its probably not the best for puppies, but she loves it, it rolls, she can pick it up, its her best friend.

Well we've had Piper for just about a week now :) (YEAH!) In that week we've learned that yes, it is truly possible that she will try to eat MORE than your toddler would ie. rocks, ants (her current favorite delicacies) and as of this morning BILLS!!! Yes we love to mangle mommy's bills and runaway with them. Also Mommy's Mac Power cord is wonderful to chew on!

All kidding aside, she continues to be a great puppy, never whines in her crate, she goes in the car with us everywhere and just falls alseep. Just watch your toes, they are nummy morsels!

When I first had Johnna, my oldest daughter, everything was new. Is she going to the bathroom enough? Why is she sneezing so much? Does her poop look wierd to you? Are you sure she should be sleeping this much? All of this is now RUSHING back to me now that we have Piper. I've found myself shaking my head a few times when thoughts like that come rushing into my head (ok and i've googled a few things!)

How Piper Came to us

I mentioned that we got Piper from a rescue but I wanted to mention it in more detail. We drove from our home to Ravenna, OH to the A1 K9 Rescue facility. There we met Piper's caretaker, Angie Rose. A1 K9 is a beautiful facility run by Angie and her family. Currently they have almost 20 dogs, and all time high. Please take a moment to look at their site, not only do they have some GORGEOUS dogs looking for forever homes, but they have a lot of useful information for adoptive parents like us.

The real reason for the blog

The real reason I created this blog is for a showcase to show off the newest member of our family. Her name is Piper, shes an 11 week old Welsh Corgi Mix that we adopted on June 22nd from an awesome Shelter in Ohio. She is just about the cutest thing i've ever seen.

We traveled 3hrs each way to get her on Sunday and the trip was worth it. The girls had no idea what we were doing. They were in total shock when we pulled up and I put her on the ground and let her loose. She is a very sweet little thing. Very well behaved so far.

And my train wreck. That about sums up my life. Although I have a wonderful family, my husband of almost 15 years, Mike, my 2 beautiful girls who are 13 and 8 and a large extended family. I've had my fair share of ups and downs including 10 surgeries. My husband decided My Train Wreck was a fitting title for a blog.
